Artscape is an innovative housing concept designed specifically for artists, performers, and employees within the creative community. Born from a unique collaboration between the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, One Stop Housing, the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, and other philanthropic and cultural organizations, this new vision will honor Sarasota's heritage well rooted in its identity as Florida's Cultural Coast® .
This vibrant community offers 75 affordable units where residents will live, practice, and perform, all in one place. Anchored by a gallery and performance space operated by the Alliance, it will be an artistic home for all to display and showcase their work. Artscape is more than housing; it fosters artistic expression and collaboration for all arts to thrive within a community led by creativity for all next generations of talent.
Let’s align our policies with our values. Let’s ensure that the people who paint our murals, lead our youth programs, perform on our stages, and staff our museums can afford to live here.
Let’s keep Sarasota a home for creativity—not just a destination for it.

Organizational Participation:
The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County currently serves more than 80 member arts organizations across the region. Approximately 15 of these organizations also serve on the Alliance Board of Directors and were provided a behind-the-scenes preview of the Artscape concept prior to its public launch. During those early conversations, several organizations, representative of some of the region’s largest and most established cultural institutions, expressed interest in learning more about potential participation.
As the project’s financial details and development timeline have become more fully defined, the Alliance looks forward to engaging interested organizations in deeper conversations about potential investment and involvement.
