Matthew Smith
Director – Community and Investor Relations, One Stop Housing Partners
Matt focuses on structured finance for affordable housing, where he is responsible for the design of project capital structures and investor materials and for managing the company's relationships with investors, employer partners, and local governments.
Prior to joining One Stop Housing Capital, Matt founded Build to Rent to Own ("B2R2O") in June of 2024. B2R2O is a Naples, Florida-based nonprofit initiative that develops affordable and workforce housing units and programmatically transitions them into occupant ownership following a three-year rental period, working in collaboration with the Collier Community Foundation, the Collier County Community Land Trust, the Housing Alliance, and employers across the region to serve essential service personnel and other members of the community workforce. It was this work in Southwest Florida that brought Matt together with the One Stop Housing team, and he continues to lead B2R2O today.
Prior to founding B2R2O, Matt was a Senior Associate on the Strategic Investments Group at the New York City Economic Development Corporation from 2023 to 2024, the quasi-public 501(c)(3) organization reporting to the Mayor's Office that serves as New York City's impact investment programs and funds spanning real estate, venture capital, private equity, and business lending. Before his time in the public sector, Matt was an Associate at MRP Realty from, a Washington, D.C.-based real estate investment and development firm, where he helped shape the long-term strategy of the firm's affordable housing platform.
Matt began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Sponsors Group at Morgan Stanley's New York City office, where he was responsible for financial analysis and execution across a broad spectrum of leveraged finance transactions and corporate advisory engagements for many of the country's largest private equity firms.
A New Jersey native and graduate of Delbarton School, Matt earned degrees in Finance and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame. He moved to Florida full time in 2024 to pursue B2R2O and to carry forward a lifelong family connection to Naples.
